The ruins of this early medieval monument lie on the Yerevan – Echmiadzin motorway. Nerses Catholcos built the establisher of the Christianity in Armenia it in 641-643,on the site where the Armenian King Trdat met Grigor Lousavorich (Illuminator), the establisher of the Christianity in Armenia. This fine construction is now destroyed but remains of the walls and the foundations and some architectural details as well as the comparison with the other existing rare monuments of this type enabled the architect T.Toramanian to reconstruct the plan and the elevation of Zvartnots. Now it is restored partially and preserved. Driving to the monument you will see the imposing scene of partially restored columns of various kinds with the other parts scattered around also the wine stores of that period and the museum. The composition fits perfectly into the surroundings having Mount Ararat as a picturesque background.
